This upcoming weekend, September 25-27, the Archdiocese of San Antonio is sponsoring a Marriage Preparation Weekend. There will be many couples coming who are uncatechized about God’s plan for marriage. We expect that many of them have been living together before marriage, engaging in non-marital genital relations, and generally not striving for the life that Christ calls us to live.
Please pray for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon all those who enter into this weekend. Pray for a breaking of the bonds of slavery to sin and for an opening of their hearts to the love of Christ the Bridegroom. Pray for protection from the distractions of the Evil One, as well as their safe travel to and from the retreat center. Pray that they may be as receptive as Our Blessed Mother, so that God may impregnate them with His own life. Most importantly, pray that they may take this weekend seriously and to be honest with God, with their fiancé, and with themselves as they discern God’s will for their lives and their vocations.
In addition, please pray for all those involved with the preparation and execution of the retreat. For the speakers, that they may proclaim the Truth about God’s plan for marriage in the Catholic Church, speaking no more and no less than He desires. Give them courage to witness to the Truth and the ability to perceive clearly the retreatants’ needs and to address them according to His will.
May Our Father bless you abundantly for your prayers and your sacrifices.

Many of my friends, and aquaintences and some family are are far off from the true Faith, some protestant, some non-practicing, others lukewarm or full blown atheists. I love them and am pained at the thought of losing them eternity. I shudder at the thought of them perishing in agony forever.
On top of this, one of these that I have mentioned is a beloved ex-girlfriend who I still hope God will rescue from the worldliness she has fallen into. I know it’s a stretch but I pray especially for her. We were together for six years, engaged, but the relationship was not chaste even though we often attended Mass together. I miss her deeply but she wants nothing to do with me. I pray first and foremost for her full conversion, and secondly that if it pleases the Lord, that she return to me full of faith and love of the Lord. I also pray in the mean time to see her again soon, and that she be willing to be a part of my life again. My heart is still rent whenever I think of her both disdaining me and ignoring her Christian duties. If it is NOT the Lord’s Will, I ask that He help me to move on. But because of the love I have for her soul, I will never cease to pray for her conversion. Please, brothers and sisters, these intentions are SO important to me.
Please Pray that my wife Marina Will come home before Xmas 2009.
